Senior / Chancel Choir’s History
The Senior / Chancel Choir of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Ann Arbor, was organized in the early 1920s. The Choir’s purpose has been to contribute to the advancement of the Church’s spiritual program through music and song as deemed appropriate by the Pastor.

Since its creation, the Senior / Chancel Choir has been blessed and honored to provide the Church’s vocal and instrumental during the 10:45am worship service on the first Sunday of each month. In addition to its traditional first Sunday responsibilities, the Choir has enjoyed a rich history of providing, at the request of the Pastor, the vocal and instrumental music during other programs or special services at the church or during special services at other churches.
The Senior / Chancel Choir is open to all members of Bethel. The Choir’s répertoire includes anthems, hymns, spirituals and gospel songs. Rehearsals are scheduled on the two Wednesday nights prior to the first Sunday of each month. Rehearsal time begins promptly at 6:30pm. Please join us as we sing praises to God.
